Drugs alter the normal flow of neurotransmitters throughout the brain, causing euphoria! When one experiences too much euphoria, the brain can not possibly imitate that feeling without the substance, therefore causing depression over time! Tolerance also builds to whatever drug one is taking, raising tolerance over time, eventually getting to the point where the drug is the opposite of euphoric, Dysphoric! If your depression is severe enough, it may take medical or pharmaceutical intervention to make a significant change, but if you are like most people that complain about depression, all you need to do is simply find new and exciting things to entertain yourself with!
