The amount of carbs a person needs to take in during the course of the day will vary from person to person, so we all have to find our own niche!!!!!!!!A petite 52 women weighing 105 lbs will require a lot less carbs that a bulky 250 lb male who engages in a lot of physical activity which will require a lot more! The ADA recommends no more than 180 grams of carbs spread out throughout the day, I personally think that number is way to high for the average person to start off with but your health care professional should be able to give you a good starting point and you can adjust either up or down from there! As for snacks they should be of a lower calorie and lower carb type! The bottom line with type 2 diabetics is to eat healthy well balanced meals and snacks with particular attention towards smaller portions and lower carbs!
