I recently painted my son’s dressers. He likes to sleep with his door shut, and when I go in in the morning to wake him up, I smell a strong petroleum-like odor. How do I get rid of this smell? I didn’t notice the odor until after I painted the dressers.

I want to paint a dresser (it’s chipped but has a lot of detail) and a simple ikea four poster. I’m thinking a shiny spray paint but want something that I know for sure won’t flake or rub off on bedding or clothes. Any tips from the pros?
