I have to write my term paper on black militancy and the decline of the civil rights movement, and one of my criteria is organized gangs, but the only one I can find is the Black Panthers.
    Are there others?
The Crips were founded in 1969, so are they still relevant to the topic at hand?

The New Black Panther Party (NBPP) is neither new nor composed of Black Panthers. Many members of the NBPP are former Nation of Islam members. The NBPP has been condemned by the REAL, original black panther party, the one founded in the 60s by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale.

Such was the case with the Black Panthers. Or when Bill Clinton and the rest of the Democrats simply brushed aside the fact that Robert Byrd was a KKK member all those years.
