This is often debated but generally it is believed the Harrison Narcotics Tax Act of 1914 when the U.S. implemented severe and strict law and punishment for the distribution and use of drugs is when drugs became officially illegal. It said that to distribute or posses certain drugs would require a tax stamp issued by the U.S. government but the U.S. government did not issue any tax stamps ever. This indirectly made certain drugs illegal.

    lets say that a group uses hallucinogenic drugs for a “spiritual quest”but anyone that uses a hallucinogenic drug experiences the same thing..

    Why is it that hallucinogenics such as psilocybin mushrooms are illegal whereas others such as salvia divinorum are legal. I find it strange as i feel that salvia divinorum has very intense effects and can cause a person to completely lose control of themselves yet is perfectly legal.
